NEW VIDEO: STEVE AOKI FEAT. LINKIN PARK - DARKER THAN BLOOD

POPDOM TOP 20 JUNE 26TH 2015

There are so many amazing new songs at the moment it's really hard to pick up just few of them and say loud and proud: this is it, these are my favourites. Anyway, only three of them are entering the chart this week and they truly deserve it.
First: it's the new Robyn project with La Bagatelle Magique and Maluca which sounds like a leftover from the one and only Deee-Lite debut album released ages ago but don't get me wrong - this is a compliment. Deee-groovy, ladies and gentlemen!
Second: it's the new Shura single called "White Light" which could be your guiding light during those hot summer nights we're living in right now.
And last but not least: gimme a beat! Janet Jackson's new new single (?) "No Sleep" enters at number 14. Nothing revolutionary or game-changing here - just this lovely voice who can melt you every time you hear it. Welcome back, Janet, miss Jackson cause we're nasty, we really missed you!

POPDOM TOP 20 JUNE 19TH 2015

It's official: Elliphant's "Love Me Badder" is an early contender now for song of the summer. It reigns for a third week in a row on top of the chart while Foxes' 80s-inspired "Body Talk" notches up one spot to number two. And, yes, don't forget Hasse's "Disco Dancer" extravaganza which enters the Top 3. Could it be next week's number 1? Who knows, who knows.
Let's also recap the upper end of the chart: the only one new arrival in the Top 10 is Sam Bruno's "Search Party". Pay very close attention to this one as it's the first official single from the "Paper Towns" soundtrack and it could eventually play out like last summer's "Boom Clap". Yes, that's correct. "Boom Clap" was a breakout solo hit for Charli XCX from the "Fault In Our Stars" movie and "Paper Towns" is the new adaptation of a John Green novel so expect the same scenario here. The fact that "Search Party" is super catchy and it sounds exactly like the track M.I.A. should've recorded right after "Paper Planes" will help too.
Also new to the chart this week are Elle Exxe's "Lost In L.A." (where else?), Tove Lo's "Timebomb" (Kylie reference), Zella Day's "High" (Tove Lo reference) and Róisín Murphy's "Evil Eyes" which is basically a movie audition footage carefully disguised as a music video. Enjoy and talk to you next week, Hasse!

POPDOM TOP 20 JUNE 12TH 2015

Looking at the Top 20 this week you can't help but notice there are too many 80s-influenced tracks on it. From Foxes brilliant new single "Body Talk" to Hasse's "Disco Dancer", Years & Years' "Shine" and Little Boots "Better In The Morning" which enters on number 8 - it's really like everyone's been partying like it's 1984 all over again.

Speaking of the only new entry in the Top 10 - it's the first single from Little Boots' third album Working Girl, which is going to be released on the 10th of July. Songs featured on it such as the title track, "No Pressure" and "Get Things Done" suggest that this time around the lady from Blackpool is going to make all things right (sort of). Which, of course, means she or whoever she's working with is going to chose the right singles, shoot the right videos and won't make a total mess out of the material. Looking at you, Nocturnes!

Now we need to talk about Hasse's "Disco Dancer" which jumps three spots to number 4. Here's what the official press release for the video says if you're used to trust press releases of course: "After spending 10.000 hours in the basement studio, the dog Hasse is finally ready to meet the world. The irresistible sax riff and funky bass groove makes the song Disco Dancer a monster. Together with the song comes also a music video where Hasse enjoys sweaty dance moves à la Macarena. This is Hasse’s first single but expect more cause the inspiration in this animal is unstoppable." In a nutshell - Hasse is a dog which enjoys sweaty dance moves while working in his basement and "Disco Dancer" is a monster hit - so true there's nothing you can add! Except that the sax riff is truly irresistible!

POPDOM TOP 20 JUNE 5TH 2015

You can't go wrong with them Swedes right now! After three weeks at the summit of the chart Erik Hassle is finally moving one spot to number two which, of course, means we have a new number 1! And what a number 1 it is!

Elliphant's "Love Me Badder" has been climbing steadily the chart for the last two weeks, debuting at number 16 and then jumping straight to number 3 last week. This is not Elliphant's first single (née Ellinor Olovsdotter) but will surely be the one that will propel her into the stratosphere and beyond.

Her debut album was released back in 2013 and featured the amazing but highly underappreciated "Down On Life". More great singles featuring Skrillex and MØ followed last year. With "Love Me Badder" being this incredibly amazing and a collaboration with Major Lazer ("Too Original") featured on the group's Peace Is The Mission album, 2015 looks like the break-out year for Elliphant, something we waited to happen for too long now but what can you do in these uncertain pop times.

Going further down the chart the Swedish power stays strong in the former number 1 "No Words", Icona Pop's "Emergency" (co-written by Mr. Hassle himself) and Hasse's brilliant "Disco Dancer" which enters at number 7.
